This Christmas I’ve decided to ditch the traditional glittering off the shelf wrapping paper for a more authentic, brown paper approach. My first port of call, trusty brown paper, yes – the cheap stuff you get in huge rolls and often use to ship the recent eBay sales off in.

I wanted to use the brown paper as a canvas, not to paint on but a canvas for ribbons, bows, glitter, candy canes, you name it. You often get reems of shiny ribbon with packs of wrapping paper that never gets used, and this year I finally decided to put some old ribbon to use.

After wrapping my presents in brown paper, I then continued to indulged myself creating bows and completed my wrapping with a golden snowflake (pack of 9 from the £1 shop). I love how you can spruce up some brown paper with some imagination and creativity, maybe tie a snow flake under the ribbons, or even artistically attach home made snow flakes (honestly, you may of had it as a child – I lost it and even you tube couldn’t help me).
