Our beautiful Golden Oak Cabin view in Argyll from the hot tub!

The Inverary Jail. Some old tourcher tactis had me feeling very ill :S

A cosy interior in a traditional Scottish pub.
Our last night in Scotland at The Village Inn pub.
Sometimes you’ve just got to get away – right? Right. For August bank holiday just gone, me and my partner in crime, Tom, decided to go away on a mini-adventure.
The initial plan was a cheap get-away to Rome, but a massive hike in flight prices left this idea in tatters, so I started searching closer afield for a forest retreat for some much needed down time. I came across a Golden Oak Cabin in Argyll forest park, Scotland. Random – definitely (one of my key traits), and on the Friday we were off on our trip to Scotland.
The weather (luckily) was great Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We soon embarked on cooking up a storm in the Cabin (and setting off the fire alarm, Tom the unskilled cook), finding local attractions and of course – local pubs. I loved how authentic Argyll was, the villages were beautiful and a breathe of fresh air. Home to cute whisky shops (amazing on a Sunday afternoon when you are already verging on tipsy), and the Inverarery Jail.
Overall, a fantastic trip that I highly recommend. The fact it was relatively hard to get a phone signal was at first daunting, but ultimately the perfect remedy. The hot tub on our terrace was a must-have. Star gazing in this thing was a real treat, not to mention the view of Loch Long. For anyone seeking some down time from their hectic everyday lives – pack your gilets and wellies, Scotland has the answer.
